Talk Like a Pirate Day

Aaaargh!!!!

Well, Matey, it's finally here Talk Like a Pirate Day and the party.  It's supposed to be an all-day, wander in and out party.

The wenches have their decorating finished. A bit too tame for a pirate party.   Sarafina and Ashley put out plates of food.

Sarafina made oatmeal gumdrop cookies and ginger snaps.  And true to her great nature as a cook, they're both big enough to be called cookies.
Ashley made no-bake chocolate cookies with sprinkles on top.  They're so tiny and dainty they are almost invisible.  And she made some "Pirate Blood Cakes."

Her plan is to cut them daintly too.  Logan and I plan to get our slices first.  No, maybe we'll just invade the kitchen and take one to our hideout. That's a good pirate plan.

When the wenches left the party area to go change into their costumes it gave Logan and I the perfect chance to carry out our plans.  We felt we needed to give them some help with their decorations.

We started in the park.  Off with ye, little scarecrows and pumpkin.  Then, we moved to the party area.

We got them a new table cloth to go under the food and added a few skulls

We hadn't counted on Krystal making a last minute check of all the decorations before she changed.  I knew we were in trouble when I heard Krystal yell from the park, "You be scum, Kyle, scum".
We had to grab our the cake from the table and run.  We could here Sarafina and Ashley running toward the party area to see what I had done.  They hadn't even taken time to finish dressing.  They were still barefoor and without hats.  And luckily without swords.
Krystal was fuming. How dare those scurvy rats mess with our decorations.  Ashley started to cry.  All that work and they destroyed it.  Sarafina started to laugh.  Well, we didn't ask for their input and it is their party too.  It makes a bonny tale to share with the others.  Soon she had the other two wenches laughing too.

Sarafina came to the hide out and took their plate and knife back, but she let us keep the cake.  She said there were plenty more of them in the kitchen.
,
Cousins and friends came by, some in costume and some not.  It was a good party.  They shared their tale with all the other wenches who came by and we ate everything the girls had fixed for food.

Krystal did say to me,  "Ye best be lookin' behind ye for a long time, for when ye drop ye guard, I'll be gettin me revenge."  And then she laughed an evil pirate laugh.

Mine Again

Finally, I have my blog back.

Next time they can email me their photos and stories.  Then, if they can't handle the blog I'll know and I can do something in their place.

Today the girls started decorating for the Pirate Party here.  It's tomorrow.  They are doing a lot of silly giggling; which always means they're having fun.

I just hope the food is going to be good.

Krystal did do a good job setting up the pirate with his treasure. Although she should have gotten some manly looking grave markers.

The decorations on the glass behind the table are awfully girlish.  I'm sure the girls and the 3-year olds will think they're great.

The park doesn't look very scary yet.  I think they're trying for a different look than what Logan and I had in mind.

We decided to go hide out.  We closed off the entrance to our area so the girls wouldn't want to come in.  We have our campfire and some food.  We can just spend the day doing our own thing.

Sarafina is working on goodies for the party.  She's such a great cook.  Hopefully, Ashlee hasn't come up with too many "cute" ideas that ruin the creativity Sarafina uses.

Pirate Party by Krystal

Sunday.
We had our pirate party today.

We scrounged up pirate outfits for everyone who wanted one.  Two of the girls wanted to just wear their outfits made with a pirate print to show support without wearing costumes.

We had cupcakes and other great snacks.  We told pirate stories and laughed at each others attempts to talk "pirate talk".
Then, Mara was teasing McKenna by threatening to dump a cupcake in her clean hair.  And oops, she accidently dropped it upside down in her hair.  She is seen here running from the room, hoping McKenna doesn't have a good enough aim to throw it into her hair while she is on the run.

And poor Jose, got attacked by Emma and Taryn who had been sword fighting.  We couldn't believe it when they turned on her.  After all, she had been nice enough to loan them her sword so they could have their sword fight.

After a week in this family Jose will never be the same.

It was so much fun.  I wish all of my sisters and cousins could have been there.

David's Birthday by Krystal

Saturday.  It's David's Birthday.

David stayed all night with his Grandma.

That gave the other adults a chance to set up for the party and to run the last minute errands.  Things like picking up balloons and the cake.

It was a Monster Truck party.

His cake was a red Monster Truck.  It was very cute.
I got caught peeking under the plastic for a look at his cake before he got to see it.  It also gave me the opportunity to check out the flavor of the frosting.  Cherry frosting, it was good.

David got to be the first one to play in the bounce house.  There was time after his nap and before the party started.  At first, he was more interested in how the air pump worked than he was in bouncing.  But, he soon got the feel for it and then wore out the whole family getting them to bounce with him.

He insisted Reeces wear a party hat.  Auntie got a picture of them together in their hats.  Then he had his picture taken with me in a party hat.

They had a pinata for the party.  It was so well built the adults finally had to break. When they did, the candy went everywhere.  So everyone had fun with it.

His main gift was his car.  He did real well driving it.  He was thrilled that it had reverse and at first, he wanted to shift every few feet.  It was a very jerky looking ride.

By the time the party clean-up was done we were all worn out.  We went to bed early that night.

Party 2

Hi

Bet you're wondering about the party ideas.  Well, all I've heard about, for two days now, is new holiday dresses and special costumes.

Can there really be as many different kinds of fabric as they seem to be talking about?  And some of the colors I've heard mentioned don't mean a thing to me.  And dress styles, it's a foreign language.

Angel has her drawing pad in front of her for sketching ideas she and the girls come up with.  They have a lap top there for looking up patterns and pictures on line.  It's a major production.

Krystal wants a Gothic pirate outfit.  And when she mentioned it, Taryn our cousin wants one too and they think our cousin Emma will want one.  But, of course, they can't be the same.  What is a Gothic pirate?  Why can't they be the same?  Why three different outfits?

When they asked Logan and I what we wanted, we told them big fancy hats and they can be the same.

But, they're not just talking pirate outfits.  It's Halloween costumes and Christmas dresses and New Years Eve outfits.  Our house will be in chaos for months.

Entertainment costumes and stage props came up, too.  Kityee will try to trap Logan and I into helping if they do any stage props.  No way, not this time.

Nana just watches them and laughs.  It might be insanity.

Logan and I are headed to the Hideout in the barn.  It's quiet there. No girls allowed.

Party Planning

Oh!!!!!   Girls!!!!!

No one should have to have this many sisters.

Yesterday morning Morgan announced that September 19 is "Talk Like a Pirate Day" and she is planning two parties.  One with friends out-of-town before then, and one at home with friends that day.  AND she wants everyone in pirate costumes.  That's less than 10 days.  She's crazy.

Then,, Krystal mentioned that Halloween is coming up and we'll need costumes for that party.

Kityee said she and Katyee have been planning an end of summer party next month.  Outdoor party, no costumes, just games and food. It would be before the Halloween party.

And Ashley started talking about a Christmas party and family parties for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Novya reminded them Thanksgiving was before that.  It would require food and games and maybe some entertainment from some of the us.

Whoa! Then, Angel said she wanted to celebrate the Scottish Holiday of St. Andrews Day.  It's on November 30 just after Thanksgiving.

Katyee said not to forget New Year's Eve and New Years Day.  They were both family dates.

And Morgan said, if Angel got to celebrate St. Andrews Day she wanted a party on the Welsh holiday of Dydd Santes Day.  It's on January 25 and is a lot like our St. Valentines Day.

Sarafina said we needed a Mitt Romney Victory Party, after the election, too.

How do they hope to do school around all this planning?  Why would anyone want this many parties?  I bet they can't get them all done.

I'm glad Logan and I have hunting season in there so we can get away from all the craziness.
